Vintage Racing Today Documentary Released on DVD

It just seems like a little more than a year ago than aspiring film director and producer Ben Cissell was trying to raise money and interest in a film project that he was doing, which was a high-quality documentary about vintage racing. Turns out the interest and the funding were there, as just before the 2012 holidays the film came out on DVD.

If you haven’t seen it yet, we highly recommend it. It is a well-done behind-the-scenes look at our hobby, which highlights not only the wonderful vintage cars, but the camaraderie and family aspect that most outsiders don’t see. And the racing footage is good too.

HVR President Rick Fiske submitted this great video, which shows both forward- and rear-facing camera angles from his Elva Courier. Here are Rick’s comments:

Labor Day Vintage race at Motorsports Park Hastings with NASA Central. Vintage race hosted by Heartland Vintage Racing. Great facility, great folks running the place, fun race. We were geared wrong, had a 3.9 needed a 4.22. We had nothing for the Mustang. Ended up breaking a ring and pinion, same as we did at Road America. Ran out of memory and lost the video for the front camera for the last race.

HVR President Rick Fiske submitted this video, which was taken from the rear-facing camera on his Elva Courier. Unfortunately the front camera failed, but you still can see some neat racing action and interesting perspectives from the quick little Elva, which was driven by Jesse Prather.

Here’s a fantastic in-car video from one of the Group 1 races at the November, 2011, CVAR race at Texas Motor Speedway. It truly shows the awesome variety of classic cars that compete, as well as highlights their diverse performance capabilities.
