Heartland Vintage Racing (HVR) is very excited to once again be supporting the vintage race car exhibition at the annual Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival (LGGPR), which takes place on October 13-15, 2017 at the classic Lake Garnett track in Garnett, KS. Mopar is the featured marque this year, so we hope to see some vintage Chrysler iron joining us!The vintage race car exhibition class is being overseen by Heartland Vintage Racing (HVR) and all HVR car, driver, and safety tech rules will preside over the vintage portion. All cars and drivers will be pre-screened by HVR prior to entry. Cars will need to be properly pedigreed or adhere to the HVR Rules for period-correct preparation, and the HVR Tech Rules will apply. In addition, drivers experience, credentials, and safety records will be reviewed prior to acceptance. HVR will accept the following licenses for this event: NASA, SCCA, or any vintage club that is a member of the VMC Council. If you are unlicensed and wish to race, please review the HVR Licensing procedures.

Registration for the LGGPR opened August 1. Entries into the vintage class are very limited, so it’s important for any prospective participant to download and mail in your entry forms as soon as possible. Your payment will not be processed until you’ve been approved, but if you would like to make sure you and your car are pre-approved before sending payment, please contact us with your car info and driver credentials / experience.

Please plan to arrive on Friday afternoon if at all possible. Track activities will begin early on Saturday, not only making it difficult to get late arrivals tech’d, but if the track is hot, you may not be able to even get access to the paddock, possibly causing you to miss a session.

Camping for racers is $40 for the weekend, and you must reserve that separately from your registration. Check out the Camping / Lodging page for full information on how to reserve your spot.

Heartland Vintage Racing (HVR) is thrilled to again be supporting the vintage race car exhibition at the annual Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival (LGGPR), which takes place on October 8-9, 2016 at the classic Lake Garnett track in Garnett, KS. And this year there’s even more to be excited about for fans and racers of vintage automobiles.

“We’re really excited that the LGGPR coordinators are putting more of a focus this year on the vintage race cars”, said HVR President Russ Dickey. “We love getting the chance to bring vintage cars back to this historic midwest racetrack, and we hope to help them grow this into one of the premier vintage exhibitions in the country.”

Beginning in 2016, the vintage race car exhibition class will have two on-track sessions each day. All vintage class cars and drivers will be pre-screened by HVR prior to entry.  Cars will need to be properly pedigreed or adhere to the HVR Rules for period-correct preparation. In addition, drivers experience, credentials, and safety records will be reviewed prior to acceptance.

The HVR Tech Rules will apply for the Vintage Exhibition Class, and accepted applicants may get vehicles pre-inspected at HVR’s “official” tech shop, RennsportKC located in Grandview, MO. RennsportKC offers a free tech inspection to anyone participating in an HVR event. Give them a call at 816-965-5800 or contact them through their website to make an appointment.

Vintage Racing Returns to Kansas Speedway

FULL INFORMATION FOR BOTH RACERS AND SPECTATORS AVAILABLE ON THE EVENT PAGE.

Heartland Vintage Racing (HVR) is proud to announce that we’ll be returning to the Kansas Speedway on September 26-27, 2015. Last year’s event on the large “roval” was extremely well received by both racers as well as the spectators who attended. And once again, the event will be held in conjunction with a National Auto Sport Association (NASA) event, so there will be plenty of racing action both days.

Registration is open for participants, and you can get more information on how to get signed up to race on the event page. We want to fill the fields with as many old racing machines as possible, so please come join us!

The track, which held it’s first race in 2001, has become most well known for NASCAR racing on it’s 1.5 mile tri-oval. In 2012, a six-turn, 2.37 mile infield road course was completed, which has seen modern sports car racing with IMSA and Grand-Am competition; but the HVR event will be the first time that vintage sports cars and classic pony cars have gone wheel-to-wheel on the track.

Spectators are also welcome, and for only a $10 per person gate fee will be treated to not only vintage cars but to modern road racing as well, with NASA hosting a wide variety of competition classes. And if you’ve ever had the itch to get a little track time with your car, there are a number of novice classes plus basic (and inexpensive) HyperDrive sessions where you can take a few laps in your street car with the help of an instructor. Visit the NASA event page for more info.

And for all you folks who are Ford fans, there’s a third event happening on Saturday which is tailor made just for you! The Midwest Blue Oval Club will be hosting one of their Blue Oval Rally’s in the large south lot. There will be Cobras, Shelby’s, Panteras, Mustangs, and more performance FoMoCo vehicles than you can shake a top-loader at! Click here for more information about the Blue Oval Rally.

Heartland Vintage Racing couldn’t have accomplished this without NASA, and we want to sincerely thank Central Region Director Matt Rivard for his assistance and support.
